Does history repeats?

Several times, I heard in childhood from my mom that history does repeats & remember the way you are harassing me, your kid will do the same with you….

Listening to this every time I have a same reaction, “Come on mom, who gone tell them? I am not going to do so & won’t allow you to do it…. I laugh & move away…

But guys my motherhood experience makes me believe that history does repeat. God itself plan the entire prank to make you realize that how much your childhood naughtiness had hurt your parents.

Let me share with you, one of the incidents: –

My mom started working when I was 5yrs old. It was not an option that she choice… she started working as a school teacher so, she can support dad financially. My mom use to complete all her household chores, prepare food & then leave for school after locking me inside the house. She does that for my safety, but I always get irritated, when she locks & go. I was a fussy eater too. I just check what she prepared & don’t eat it if I don’t like it. I not only don’t eat it but also to save myself from her scold, I used to hide the roti’s under the coat, behind the cylinders, etc….. About which she used to come to know during Diwali cleaning, till that time I ran away to my mama’s house.

That was my side story….now let me tell u how it repeated in my life once again……

I quit my job, so my son won’t pass through same feeling, which I used to feel (a feeling of loneliness & parents not able to attend any events). And he was never being a fussy eater like me in childhood. So, I was very much relaxed about that too.

But as I told you, god had different planning…..

One day, when my son came back from neighbors house for dinner, his tummy was full (he had something from their house). As he had a fear of get scold by us for having junk food at dinner time, he didn’t inform us about it. He started having his roti sabji…….within 15 minutes, he finished everything. We were happy & surprise that… Today, he had it so quick. We didn’t doubt on him, as he used to eat fast if he wants to do something after dinner, or he is starving. I just took his plate & brought the cloth to wipe the area he was sitting & having food. Suddenly while wiping something stuck in the clothes & came out of the coat, nearby which he was having food….

OMG…….

My son was scared & we were shock….

Small-small pieces of roties, one by one coming out of the coat, while every time i wipe with cloth…. Me & my husband were totally confused, what to react. He is just 5 yrs old… so scolding for this is not a good option & his age is not enough to understand the value of not wasting food. Still, we decided to guide & make him understand that if his tummy is full just tell us & also try not to have anything from anywhere before dinner time. With that we told  him that there are many kids in this world, who hardly get one time sufficient nutritious food to eat. So don’t waste or throw food.

So guys you can see that how & which way the history repeated in my life. My son & hubby were not aware of my childhood naughtiness. No one told zumi about my incident but still he did the same thing same way. This was not my first experiences of history repeated; many more incidents happened in my mommyhood, when I missed my mom & feel guilty + sorry for harassing her.

Guys maybe you too faced such experiences in your mommyhood. Do share with me in comment section.

Monsoon Time Beach Trip

We are water loving people, so whenever we plan a trip, our first preference always will be pool villa or stay near to beach… So we able to spend whole day in the pool & have lots of fun at the beach. July is the time when we mostly plan for trips, as it’s our anniversary month & we love rain a lot.  In 2018 we planned a short anniversary trip to Serena Beach Resort, as zumi was between us all the time, i cant call it “3rd honeymoon”.

We planned for a 2 day trip to mandvi beach serena resort, as it was the first trip with 2.5yrs old Zumi. We were scared that he will be able to adjust in new atmosphere or not. So like new parents, took all the required precaution, which we can.

area

This resort was 99.3 km away from the place where we stay (from gandhidam, kutch). So we decided to take a road trip & enjoy the 2 hrs of travelling singing, chatting, recalling all the memories & enjoying the atmosphere. (For outsider, I suggest to take a train trip or flight till kutch or mundra, as its nearer to place.)

As the resort is situated in the outskirt of the city, after seeing a barren land for 15-20 minutes, finally we saw a main gate of “Serena Resort”. Ambiance of the resort was very good, it make me feel the vibe of real kutch. Traditional carvings, embroidery works was done to give that feel.

While we were in the reception area for some formalities, it started drizzling with a cold breeze. It was giving a feel like climate welcoming us to the resort. And till the time we reached the villa, which we have booked it started heavy raining, which stay for few minutes only. But the view was very good… chilled hard wind, palm tree dancing with the waves of beach wind, wet greenery everywhere with a  beautiful miniatures kept in some place.

InShot_20190712_114543426

As we reached to our villa, we just had a quick inspection of room & availability. It was a hut type 2 bedroom villa had a perfect usage of traditional curving in each corner with primary colors attached to it a personal garden was there. But who cares about all this, our target was to just jump into the pool as beach was in a wild mood & waves were roaring like a lion. So we enjoyed the pool till rain stop, as soon as the rain stopped we went down to see the beach with our own risk… it was not in a good mood to make us have fun…

InShot_20190712_114323093

Now what will we do….. Mad & crazy people like us planned for a rain walk & check out the resort completely. So we went each corner of the resort, it was very creatively prepared & you will find many selfie point, best from waste decorations, beach view restaurant. We didn’t able to enjoy the beach view restaurant at dinner time, but next day we just grab the opportunity by getting up early. As it was our check out day, we don’t want to miss any moment.

InShot_20190712_113428121

Before we go for breakfast, we had a wonderful beach time. Water was little far as compare to yesterday, so we had a walk on the wet sand. Zumi find lots of big & small muddy puddles to jump.  I & zumi collected lots of shells from the shore. We didn’t miss to write our name in the wet sand, which we have usually done during our trips before zumi’s birth, but for zumi it’s completely a new feel..

InShot_20190712_114434364

After checking out from resort, we decided to go for a Vijay Vilas Palace, which was closer to the place. This palace was famous for “Hum Dil Da Chuka Sanam” shootting. Do you remember the song “Chand Chupa Badal Ma”, it was picturize in this place and all the karva chaut scene done here. Place is beautiful but too much to walk after parking to entrance & after that from there to palace. Best area of the palace was one of the terraces on the top… It was a roof covered terrace. The most beautiful area to watch the mandvi beach, palace garden & enjoy the cold crazy wind with rain. I just loved that area of the palace but only one issue; you can’t click a picture…. Not because it’s restricted area… the wind is so harsh that you can’t pose for a second perfectly.

Yes one more thing i like to add…..If you are in mandvi don’t miss the cone bhaji & dabeli. You will get a yummiest street cone bhaji in mandvi. Do try the food court stall, which comes in the turning to public beach way from main city.

If you don’t wanna go for resort fun, you can enjoy the public beach too, which is completely safe. We many time visited public beach during mild rain, its trilling to ride a bike on the beach sand, when it’s raining.

Let’s ride in the #Ariel #Son-day Task -1 train

@ariel.india come up with these awesome initiatives that encourage gender equality and break stereotypes like laundry is only for women. They emphasized on that everyone in the family should #sharetheload .  To spread the vibe of this movement & to encourage more sons’s to join it, for the next four Sundays that is from (21st april- 28th april- 5th may – 12th may), Ariel will come up with one new task every Sunday and they want the sons to check that out and do that task. If you have missed any task than don’t worry, there is a chance to participate till 12th may…. Please complete the entire task to get eligible for Grand prize.

I am all set to ride on this #Ariel #Son-day task train with my champ. I highly believe that all family members should #ShareTheLoad, but somewhere agree that in my family all the three elder men are layman in it. Wives in the family try to train the hubby’s, when they started working to support them in balance the financial situation. This didn’t help them completely, but given them a satisfaction that at least the men of the house trying to learn & improve. So when I blessed with a son, I decided that I won’t make him dependent on me or his wife for small- small house chores. At least I will teach him to do small regular basic works of house.

Ariel this week task is washing clothes. Zumi is all set to learn the first #sharetheload task wash his clothes.

His task start with gathering the clothes from room, which thrown by him …here & there. After that he carry it to washing area & put it in the washing machine. Add the ariel matic liquid & water as per required. Now it’s time to “ON” the washing machine & set the timer as per requirement.

Now what next…. It’s time to dance till the washing done. When it complete put it in the dryer & dry it.

We enjoyed doing this task….. wat about you guys?

Join the activity from Ariel & blogadda – #ShareTheLoad.  This is the perfect opportunity to let the world know what a home where the men and women #ShareTheLoad would look like.

Kitchen chores – Ariel #Son-day Task

We are on the 3rd week of #Ariel #son-day task. Friends if you have gone through my previous blog, you already have an idea about what I am talking. For new readers, I am repeating the details of activity.

These weeks #Ariel #ShareTheLoad tasks is dish wash & sink cleaning. Teaching our son’s…how to keep the kitchen utensils clean & keep the sink clean. This is not a new task for us, my champ zumi started supporting me in this from the age of 2.5 yrs. Yes…

My in-laws house is made in old style. There sink is not attached to the kitchen. Whenever we where there, every time I have to go backside of the house where sink area is made to wash the utensils. As I was alone with zumi while working, to keep him engaged & in front of my eye, I use to give the clean dish ( washed by me) to wash again & arrange it in proper way.  By seeing this many people told me that “he is a boy, don’t make him do girls work”, but every time I had a same reply to them that “I am making him independent & at the same time teaching him that he should #sharetheload of household chores”

This time I thanks to #ariel & #blogadda for giving me a chance with this task to share my story to everyone.

Join the activity from Ariel & blogadda – #ShareTheLoad.  This is the perfect opportunity to let the world know what a home where the men and women #ShareTheLoad would look like.

Let’s make your Sunday to #Son-day with #Ariel campaign.

Its inspiring delight to see @ariel.india coming up with these awesome initiatives that encourage gender equality and break stereotypes like laundry is only for women. They emphasized on that everyone in the family should #sharetheload .  To spread the vibe of this movement & to encourage more sons’s to join it, for the next four Sundays (21st april- 28th april- 5th may – 12th may), Ariel come up with one new task every Sunday and they want the sons to check that out and do that task. If you love your mom and really believe that you would want to help her out, do participate and pledge to share household chores

I am too joining this movement & going to do the second Sonday task with my son zumi. Second #Son-day task was to clean & arrange the wardrobe. This is the biggest messy work for me.

Zumi turn 4.5yrs now, he love to choose his clothes himself & won’t prefer to wear something which I keep out for him. Every day my naughty piggy drag each clothes from the arranged set, which somewhere spoil all the arrangement in the wardrobe.  As a result the wardrobe turns to messy.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see in the first picture, how he has dragged down all the clothes & made the wardrobe messy. OMG! Not again…. This was use to be my reaction earlier ….. But now, I am carefree as this #son-day because of #Ariel, I taught him to fold the clothes & keep it in proper place.

InShot_20190503_123403679

I am surprised by seeing that; zumi really enjoyed doing this work. With his full dedication he learned to fold the clothes & helped me to re-arrange the messy wardrobe. While folding each clothes, he had a smile of learning & achieving something. With an excitement, that he had helped his mommy to complete the work. This teach me a important lesson of life, which I love to share with all mommy’s…

Hey lovely mommies.. We are the one who teach the kids about gender difference… knowingly or unknowingly… but this is the fact. We are the one who select pink or blue -select cars, balls or Barbie dolls, kitchen set etc for our kids.

Let’s change this stereotype, by join ariel campaign & changing few habits of ours…. Let your kids enjoy every color & all type of toys…. Let them learn to do all work with their full dedication…. Let them understand the hard work & equal invovlment of both gender for running house, society & country, so they learn to respect both gender.

When women can handle home & office after marriage, why the men cann’t learn to handle home with office. Teach your son to #ShareTheLoad.

Yudh bhoomi – game of war & maths

From last one week a war is going on in our house……nothing to panic 🙂 🙂 :), and I am just loving this war, as it’s a war of Yudh bhoomi game from dicetoylab

Earlier whenever someone talked about games of thrones or strategy, only one thing came to my mind & that was chess.  But this is completely different from chess… The only compatibility between both games other strategy and thrones is WAR…

Dicetoy team is the mind behind Yudh bhoomi game. This Game is created in such a way that it gives you the feeling of cold war & the great warriors who are there protecting their friends. In the miniatures form you will find both men & women soldiers, that will help form a feeling of equality in the minds of kids that both men and women can protect when facing dire situations.

IMG_20190414_175910_318

*Men: – Both Spearheading and Swordsmen in attacking pose.

IMG_20190414_175910_317
*Women: – Archers and Swordswomen also in attacking pose.

IMG_20190414_180912_441
There are total 32 soldiers in 8 different poses in the game.

Each warrior kid player can set up warriors in a formation of his choice. Game begins with the rolling of dice & the number on the dice positive or negative decides the fate of warriors. But the actual decider and the critical but fun moment comes, when the dice fall in with the warrior face… And that’s the time to pick the card  & follow the instruction written on it which is designed so wonderfully that it changes the direction of the game from winning to a threatening position. It creates a great excitement in kid’s mind at that moment.

This makes the game totally unpredictable and keeps the kids interested all the time. One can’t predict the time how long it can be played with only few moments that it can defeat the other or even self by just dragging a card.

In this game set you will receive 3 boxes.
1) Male warriors – 16 Miniatures – 499 Rs.
2) Female warriors – 16 Miniatures – 499 Rs.
3) dice & (20) game card + instruction card – 299 Rs.

Combo price Rs. 1174

Miniatures are well crafted with PVC material, which are soft and flexible but not at all sharp. Miniatures are totally safe for kid’s.

What I liked about this game?

  1. As the game is based on ancient Indian warriors style, Kids can relate how brave and sacrificing our ancestors would be face a difficult and an unpredictable situation.
  2. The best thing is it’s very effective in teaching kids basic mathematics
  3. Gender equality, by all means the best takeaway of this Game is, its has both male & female soldiers with different weapons & poses, which shows the gender equality ( that no other games replicate).
  4. Keeps kids engaged for longer time with fun and excitement. What’s more that it keeps them away from gadgets too .
  5. It teaches them to face ups & downs of life and prepare themselves for surprises and be prepared for them. As this game is unpredictable and one can win or lose any time.
  6. All the materials used in the game are harmless and totally environmental friendly and safe of kids of any age.

It’s easily available on amazon.com or can be purchased from this website: – dicetoylab

Picture shown above is the first version of game, which can be played by 2 players. If more players want to play we have to purchase an extra box of warriors.

Dicetoylab has launched a sticker color book related to warriors, which is ultimate. Advance version of yudhbhoomi is in pipeline, stay tune with them to see there more creative launch.

Skolatoys -Step & Slide with a twist added by me

With the start of the month of April, we Malayalis eagerly wait for Vishu our “New Year”. In this festival, after worshiping Lord Krishna, the elders gift the younger ones in the family. So I was in search of something special for my little kid.

Being a mom, I know what kind of issue he is facing, when it comes to a reading & understanding. I tried several tricks to grab his attention towards reading short stories… But as I know he is extra naughty champ, and it’s very hard to make him sit at one place without his willingness. So my next intent was to search a kind of game, which attracts him to read & encourages him to understand what he is reading. My search zeroed me at Skolatoys.

Skola toys have different stages of word games.

  1. 3 letter crosswords (age 4+)
  2. Sight Words:- Step & Slide (age 4.5+)
  3. Word Wheel (age 5+)
  4. Complex Words with Phonograms (coming soon)

We decided to go with Sight Words:- Step & Slide game ….and in my way add a twist in the game while playing, that will surely improve his reading + understanding trouble. Before knowing, what kind of twist I added too it… Let me show you the product we brought & how much we enjoy it.

Multiple Player: – 4 kids can play this game. The sequence of each player will be same one after other turn, but with that you can add some rules like (1) whoever reaches the top with the most words collected, wins. (2) The game will be over the moment any kid reaches the finishing point, and whoever collects the most number of words wins. (3) If the latter comes to the same word that the former has collected, then you lose the steps and stay still and cannot repeat the word too.

SKILLS DEVELOPED:-

Sight Reading: – As the kids play this game, they effortlessly absorb all the basic sight words needed for simple reading & writing. This not only enhances their interest in reading, but also helps them to create meaningful sentence by their own.

Game play: – Increase the fun of learning together.

Twists we added: – While playing it with zumi & frds, we added a new rule to it. Which was.. wherever the player lands as per the dice rolled, the player will read the word & form a sentence using the same word. The intent was not only to increase their interest in reading but also make them understand usage of same word to get meaningful sentences. This twist added a new thrill in game & we find that kids really looking forward to make sentences their own.

I just love the product & highly recommend to mom’s who want to encourage their kids to read & understand the sentences they are reading.
